For groups booking multiple rooms, or a large single booking, there's often more room to negotiate than the listed rate suggests.
How much room typically exists
Independent hotels and villa owners generally have more flexibility than large international chains with fixed corporate rate structures — similar to the dynamic covered in our extended-stay discounts guide, but based on room count rather than length of stay.
What to offer in exchange
Booking multiple rooms as a single reservation, paying a deposit upfront, or committing to specific dates without flexibility all give a property more reason to offer a better rate than a comparison-shopping individual booking would get.
Who to negotiate with
Contacting a property directly (by email or phone) generally gives more negotiating room than booking through a third-party platform, which takes a commission the property has to account for in any discount offered.
For very large groups
See our large groups guide for the broader logistics of coordinating a big trip beyond just the accommodation rate itself.
