Pet-friendly accommodation in Phuket exists but isn't the default — worth confirming directly rather than assuming.
Which accommodation types tend to allow pets
Private villas are generally the most flexible category, since there's no shared lobby or other guests to manage — many villa owners allow pets with advance notice, sometimes with an additional cleaning fee. Hotels and resorts are more inconsistent, with only a subset explicitly welcoming pets.
What to check before booking
- Weight or breed restrictions, which some properties apply even within a broader "pet-friendly" policy
- Whether there's an additional pet fee, and whether it's a flat charge or scales with stay length
- Access restrictions — some properties allow pets in the room but not in shared pool or restaurant areas
Bringing a pet from abroad
