Honey & bee farms in Phuket

A small local honey industry worth knowing about beyond the standard souvenirs.

A small local honey industry operates on the island, with a couple of dedicated bee farms open to visitors alongside the more common jarred honey sold at markets.

What's on offer

Bee farm visits typically include an explanation of hive management and honey extraction, a tasting of different honey varieties (often flavoured by which flowers the bees were foraging near), and honey products for sale directly from the source.

Why the variety matters

Like many tropical regions, local honey flavour shifts depending on which flowering plants are nearby at the time — longan and other tropical fruit blossom honeys are common specifically because of Thailand's fruit-growing regions influencing the bees' foraging.

Where to find it

A visit works well combined with a countryside or ATV tour through the island's interior, rather than as a standalone half-day activity on its own.
