Sea canoeing & kayaking in Phang Nga Bay

Paddling through hongs and sea caves as an alternative to a standard speedboat tour.

Sea canoeing is one of the more peaceful ways to experience Phang Nga Bay's limestone scenery, as an alternative to a standard speedboat day tour.

What it involves

Small inflatable canoes, usually paddled by a local guide with passengers seated, entering low-ceilinged sea caves at specific tide windows to reach hongs — hidden lagoons enclosed by vertical cliff walls, invisible from open water.

Why it's different from a speedboat tour

Slower, quieter, and able to access spaces speedboats simply can't reach — the trade-off is covering less ground overall in a day. See our big boat vs speedboat comparison for how this fits alongside other tour styles.

Tide timing matters

Access to the low-ceilinged hong entrances depends on tide levels — a guide will plan the route around the day's tide window, which is part of why these trips run on a somewhat fixed schedule rather than a flexible, any-time departure.

Booking notes

Often sold as an add-on within a broader Phang Nga Bay or James Bond Island tour rather than a completely standalone trip — check whether canoeing is included or optional when booking.
